CMSA Atlanta

President’s Message

Welcome to the official web site of the Atlanta Chapter of the Case Management Society of America. CMSA is a national and international non profit organization founded in 1990 dedicated to the support and development of the profession of case management through educational forums, networking opportunities and legislative involvement. Unique in its composition as an international organization, over 70 affiliated and prospective chapters [including Australia, Hong Kong, and London] in a tiered democratic structure, CMSA’s success and strength is its structure as a member-driven society.

The Atlanta Chapter is very active in promoting the mission of CMSA. We hold bi-monthly educational meetings and are greatly appreciative of the Speakers and Sponsors that help us accomplish this. Our latest meeting was held on July 8, 2008. We would like to say thank you to both Dr. Lee Diamond as our Speaker and Kindred Hospital as our Sponsor. It was a great and very educational presentation as well as a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn and interact with each other. Our next meeting will be September 9, 2008. We also have an annual Educational Conference, which will be held again this year at the Georgia International Convention Center on Saturday, October 11, 2008. The theme is western in nature and is “Case Management Roundup: Many Roads, One Destination. Please come and participate. The Conference Committee has done a tremendous job in planning and it will be a great educational and networking opportunity with door prizes and many dynamic Speakers. The details for each of these activities and other information can be viewed by clicking on the designated items on this site. You may also contact us by e-mail or by phone as also noted.

I would like to share with you that several of us in Leadership positions from our Chapter were very fortunate to recently attend the National CMSA annual Conference, which was held in Orlando, Florida this year. It was very insightful and educational. The participation of each Speaker and several hundred Vendors was greatly appreciated. The event is held annually and it has already being planned for 2009. Also, please visit our National web site at www.cmsa.org for further information regarding CMSA and the benefits of membership.

I would also like to take this opportunity to make everyone that is involved in Case Management aware that CMSA invites you to review and comment on the updated version of the caseload matrix and the accompanying caseload concept paper. These can be reviewed on the National web site. CMSA, along with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and other members of the Caseload Work Group, is pleased to present these documents, which provide the foundation from which a calculator to determine appropriate caseload size and case mix for case managers working in health, behavioral health, and workers' compensation settings can be developed. The deadline for Public comments is August 4, 2008 (Central Time Zone). We encourage you to participate in this, as your input is very important and appreciated.

Again, thank you for visiting our web site. We encourage you to visit periodically throughout the year, as we will keep you updated on both local and National activities.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat McCutchen, RN, C, CPHQ, CCM
